Rhododendron Choco & pink
Rhododendron
Rhododendron is a hardy plant with an exuberant bloom. The name directly translates as ‘rose tree’, probably due to its beautiful, brightly coloured flowers and lush growth – some shrubs can grow quite large.
The BEST-select variety is a unique mix of purple-flared young shoots, dark brown leaves and dark pink flowers.
Choco & Pink
Rhododendron Choco & Pink® is a shrub with distinctive pink to dark pink flowers with wine red spots on the petals, the so-called ‘macule’. The plant has dark brown leaves and contrasting red-purple young shoots, which makes it unique. The plant is so distinctive that it was awarded a silver medal at Plantarium, the international fair for tree growers and plant lovers.
The shrub will grow up to 2 to 3 meters in height. It thrives best in shade or partial shade, remains green during winter and flowers abundantly from May.
Maintenance
Rhododendrons are acid loving plants. They thrive well in humus-rich, well-drained sandy and sandy loam soils. They like shade or partial shade and require sufficient nutrition and moist soils. The ideal time to plant is spring or autumn. Cut back your rhododendron by a third shortly after flowering to maintain the plant’s shape.
