Viburnum

Viburnum plicatum or Japanese snowball is a deciduous ornamental shrub with bright red berries and pale pink to bright white flowers. The BEST-select varieties bloom densely compacted, which makes them extremely suitable for public garden borders or smaller gardens.

Pinkimono

Like its cousin ‘Pinkawai’, Viburnum plicatum Pinkimono® is a very compact-growing viburnum. It barely grows taller than 80 to 100 centimetres. The shrub has deep green leaves and sterile buds that flower into large flat umbels with small fertile flowers in the centre. The beautiful flowers change colour from light pink to bright white.

This viburnum variety flowers from May to July, and sometimes a second time in autumn. After flowering, bright red berries appear that turn black as they ripen. It is a very rewarding plant which needs very little care.

Maintenance

Viburnum is a hardy plant that prefers full sunlight or partial shade. It is not very demanding but prefers a well-drained, humus-rich, mildly acidic to neutral soil. Because of its compacted growth it hardly requires any pruning. It suffices to remove dead branches in spring to keep the plant attractive and healthy.
